BEEOLOGY SUPERHERO

A resume of life in outer space

Why can't we live in outer space?

Radiation

It's exposure increases cancer risk, damages nervous system and alters cognitive functions among other issues.

For this reason, deep space vehicles will have significant protective shielding

Isolation

People does not live well in reduced environments and since spaceships must be small, behavioral issues are inevitable.

Sleep loss, circadian desynchronization, and work overload are some of the main consecuences.

Distance from Earth

No resupply from earth, delay of communication and posible medical emergency that can't be immediately solved. Planning and self-sufficiency are essential keys to a successful mission.

Lack of Gravity

We are adapted to earths gravity, but living in space can produce some health issues in skeletal, cardiovascular and muscular systems.

There are some therapies that helps astronauts with such issues but we still need more experimentation.

Hostile Environments

Important habitability factors include temperature, pressure, lighting, noise, and quantity of space. It’s essential that astronauts are getting the requisite food, sleep and exercise needed to stay healthy and happy.
